Experience
Mr. Weiland was admitted to practice in 1992. Prior to joining Coleman & Horowitt, LLP, he was a shareholder, board member and former president of the Fresno, California firm of Dowling Aaron Incorporated.
Prior to joining Dowling Aaron Incorporated, Mr. Weiland was engaged in a solo private practice in Fresno, California. Prior to admittance to the Bar, Mr. Weiland maintained a 20-year professional practice as a registered civil engineer in California[DJW1] .

Mr. Weiland’s legal career has included all phases of litigation in the areas of banking, business disputes, construction, real estate, environmental, professional liability defense, general insurance defense, employment law, and public agency law, bench and jury trials in State and Federal Court, administrative proceedings, and arbitrations. He has also assisted in transactions, including incorporation, purchase and sale agreements, secured and unsecured
transactions, and employment contracts and employment law consultation for businesses.
Mr. Weiland has served as an arbitrator (for the American Arbitration Association), and judge pro tem (for the Fresno County Superior Courts), mediator (Fresno and Merced County Courts, and privately), early neutral evaluator (Private), and private mediator and arbitrator.

Mr. Weiland is a member of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of California, the Fresno County Bar Association (member of the Real Estate and Construction Law Committees), the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (Board Member, San Joaquin Valley chapter), the American Bar Association (member: ABA Advisory Panel, Litigation Section as well as the ADR and Construction Committees of the Litigation Section), the Association of Defense Counsel for Northern California and Nevada, Legal Advisory Committee of the Associated General Contractors of California, American Society of Civil Engineers (Life Member) and American Council of Engineering Companies (affiliate).
Publications and Lectures
Mr. Weiland is the author of numerous articles and has served as a panelist Association of Business Trial Lawyers, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and various state and local seminar presentations.
Honors and Awards
Mr. Weiland has been named a Super Lawyer (2009-2020); is AV® rated by Martindale Hubbell; was named to the San Joaquin College of Law Alumni Hall of Fame in 2019; and selected as a fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America.

Admissions
Mr. Weiland is licensed to practice in all of the courts of the state of California, the United States Court of Appeals, 9th Circuit, and the northern, eastern and central Districts of the United States District Court in the state of California.
He has also practiced (pro hac vice) in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas.
Training
Mr. Weiland has received “Basic” and “Advanced” Arbitrator Training from the American Arbitration Assn.
He has also received training from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School in “Mediating the Litigated Case” and “Mediating Construction Disputes.”
